Dear Friend,
Happy Holidays to you and your family. My name is Joseph W. Sneed and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and to announce my candidacy for State
Representative of the 10th Representative District in the February 2nd, 2010 Democratic primary. I look forward to concentrating my energies to an agenda that will include:
Implementing a small business initiative plan which would help to revive our economy locally through the creation of jobs; fighting against waste, fraud, and the abuse of taxpayers’ dollars; tackling the foreclosure issue; addressing the parking zones and meters issue from the state level; investing in our children's education; and reforming the criminal justice system.
You can count on a tireless effort from my staff and I to be proactive and to challenge the status quo in Springfield. We will be accountable to our constituency and will promote complete transparency in our state government while restoring the relevancy of our State Representative's role to a level which cultivates a progressive path in our constituent's everyday lives.
My family and I are lifelong residents of the 10th District. I graduated from St. Malachy Grammar School, Gordon Technical High School, and attended Simpson College, Indianola, IA. Growing up I learned the importance of hard work by working in my mother’s restaurant, Ann’s Restaurant, which was located at Western Ave. & Lake St., while laboring for my father’s construction company. My interests in real estate and business development were groomed during these early years. As a Real Estate Broker and Appraiser, I established The Sneed Group and am also a member of the Chicago Association of Realtors. I also have 13 years experience in government as a Supervisor of Investigations in the City of Chicago-Department of Business Affairs and Licensing and Consumer Protection which I was Innovative in helping to create new revenue streams.
I have been actively involved in our community and have provided charitable services to a number of organizations including: Past President & Board Member, Concerned Citizen’s Inc., a not-for-profit corporation that operates Mother’s House I, II & III (homeless shelters for men, women & children); Past Chairman & Board Member of the Board of Trustees and Head of Real Estate Development - Resurrection United Methodist Church; Member, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity; Member, State of Illinois Fraternal Order of Police; Member, IVI-IPO (Independent Voters of Illinois-Independent Precinct Organization);and Former Member, AFSCME Local #2912.
The political climate in our state has changed. We realize that real change is required to correct years of mismanagement and a lack of representation. With your help I will provide the experience and dedication necessary to guarantee the smart change that we need to ensure transparency and efficiency. Therefore I respectfully ask for your support as the Democratic candidate for State Representative-10th District and ask that on February 2nd, 2010 that you punch 71 for the change we need, vote for Joseph Sneed.
Thank You
Joseph W. Sneed
